Alexander Zapara - from a student to Head of the Qualification Department in a large production company in 5 years

EDS-POWER production - the best place for ambitious and talented young people to grow their careers.

Alexander Zapara has gone from being a design engineer and electrician to the position of Chief Engineer and then to the position of Head of the Qualification Department at EDS- POWER. And mind you, he achieved all of this by the age of 27, within 5 years of working in the company, demonstrating excellent performance!

As an engineer, I was involved in the development of 0.4, 10 kV power distribution devices, preparing design documentation in accordance with the requirements of the European Standards for Design and Engineering Documentation (ESKD). He then carried out installation and chief installation work for electrical equipment ranging from 0.4 to 35 kV in the EDS production facility (upon obtaining the Chief Engineer status). Currently, he manages a department in the management concept of EDS, where he is responsible for product quality, product standardization, and occupational safety.

When did you start working at EDS?

During the final year of my university studies in 2016, I began seeking further career opportunities. HRD Valentina Puchta must have been impressed by my diligence and skills, as she took the risk of offering a young professional an important position as a Design Engineer. This allowed me to combine writing my diploma thesis with work even before it became part of dual education.

How did you end up in production?

From my student days, I had a closer interest in production.

What is your next ambition?

The next ambition is to elevate the production of our advanced products to a higher level. This includes 10 kV, 20 kV, and 35 kV gas-insulated switchgear systems, compact 10 kV and 20 kV single-end service assembled chambers(SSAC) of the MVC type that require no maintenance, standardize components and operations, and conduct standardized testing. While what we currently manufacture, the 35 kV closed switchgear, represents a high level of electrical switchgear production, we aspire for even greater achievements.

What are you proud of in terms of your management experience?

When the EDS-Ukraine management concept was formed, there was a need to quickly organize the necessary permits and product certification under the new EDS-POWER brand. Within a month, we were able to conduct product testing to ensure compliance with internal technical specifications, DSTU 62271, ISO 9001, and obtain a certificate of origin in the U1 form.

Tell us about the team...

The team consists of diverse individuals with various responsibilities, including standardization, certification, quality control, chief installation, occupational safety, and fire safety. The team's diversity stems from the range of tasks and expertise required in our field. However, what unites everyone is their ambition and passion for their work.

What product or project are you proud of?

I take pride in the establishment of the chief installation department. It has been instrumental in our development and improvement of quality. Of course, with the rapid growth pace in our company, mistakes are bound to happen, but we minimize the likelihood of these errors through corrective measures and actions based on the data provided by this department.
