Power three-phase two-winding step-down transformers of general industrial purpose, with a capacity from 25 to 1600 kVA, are designed for both indoor and outdoor installation. In order to increase the cooling efficiency in TO-25...1600 kVA transformers, radiators or corrugated walls are used.
TO transformers are available for operation with primary voltage of 6, 10, or 15.75 kV and secondary voltage of 0.4 or 0.23 kV. Regarding the winding connection scheme and group, they can be D/Yn-11, Y/Yn-0, or Y/Zn-11.
The main design characteristics of TO transformers include:
- Use of an oil expansion tank, which ensures a stable oil level under all operating conditions of the transformer and temperature changes in the surrounding environment.
- An air dryer to protect the oil from the influence of the external atmosphere, which is filled with a sorbent to absorb moisture from the surrounding air that enters the transformer.
- Use of a float-type oil level indicator on the end of the oil expansion tank to monitor the oil level in the transformer.
- An arrow-type thermometer for measuring the temperature of the upper layers of oil in the transformer tank.
- Transformers with a capacity of over 1000 kVA are additionally equipped with a gas relay to ensure their safety and reliable operation.
